Fifty years ago, the lynching of Emmett Till, a fourteen-year-old black child whose butchers walked free, opened the door to the Civil Rights Movement and justice for a persecuted population.

As a tribute to the bravery of this child and his defenders, TURTLE SHELL PRODUCTIONS and its award winning team is proud to present a play inspired by this event which sought to give voice to Till and the many others whose voices were silenced and ignored by racism.

It is as moving in 2005 as when it was first published in 1964. Blues for Mister Charlie, with its critique of social injustice and powerful depiction of how deeply the wounds of racism run, continues to speak to audiences.
